Rebecca Keate

CellMend Technologies

CEO & Co-Founder

Rebecca completed her Bachelor's in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Physics from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2019. At Georgia Tech, Rebecca's research career involved studying the mechanics of cell adhesion, winning a Petit Scholarship, the President's Undergraduate Research Award, and later becoming an Amgen Scholar. After performing academic research, Rebecca pursued industrial experiences with Johnson & Johnson and BD prior to starting her PhD work at Northwestern University in 2019. As a PhD student, Rebecca designed electrically conductive biomaterials for regenerative engineering while continuing to learn about the intersection of scientific discovery and commercial translation through immersive learning experiences at Northwestern such as the Biotechnology Training Program and the INVO Practicum. After completing her PhD in Fall 2023 with several peer-reviewed publications and a patent application, Rebecca was awarded the Entrepreneurial Fellowship at Northwestern's Querrey InQbation Lab. Rebecca is now CEO and Co-Founder of an academic spinout called Cellmend Technologies, which is using a molecule that glows to develop infection prevention and detection products.
